WHAT IT IS
A visit to a hidden gem in Trastevere, the “modest” villa designed by Baldassarre Peruzzi and owned by Agostino Chigi, one of the wealthiest men of Sixteenth-century papal Rome. Agostino Chigi worked exclusively with the best artists of his times, especially his good friend Raphael, who decorated the interior of the villa. Once visited the Villa Farnesina we will move to the residence of the Fornarina (the woman loved by Raphael) and then cross the river to explore the Renaissance district starting from Via Giulia, designed by Donato Bramante, (the architect of the Vatican Palace) and then move to Piazza Farnese, Palazzo della Cancelleria, Campo de’ Fiori and finally Piazza Navona.
YOUR GUIDES
Your guides are local guides who hold a degree in Art History or Archaeology and know the city perfectly. Some of them also teach in American University Programs in Rome. They all have one thing in common: their deep love for the subjects they studied and their desire to to pass it on to the people they meet!
WHY WE LIKE IT
Even though these are tours of well-known and highly visited places, our guides are able to make them really special!
