From the new covered market (a Rome favorite), through the worker housing district of the early 20th century, the former slaughterhouses now converted to fair trade market and kids’ convention halls, to the visible remains of the Aurelian Wall, Roman granary and housing from as early as the 2nd c. BC, plus the great Monte Testaccio, composed entirely of pottery shards from the ancient shipping port along the Tiber. Great pastry shops, pizzerias and local attractions could keep you coming back.
