The Roman Forum, the Palatine Hill and the Colosseum

This is with no doubts one of the most important and famous archaeological sites in the world! The ancient city is the best place to see how Rome developed from a small village on the Palatine Hill to become the nucleus of the world for several centuries. The tour will start from the Forum, the heart of public life at the time of the Roman Republic and of the Imperial Rome later on. We will discover the origins of Rome, its political institutions and its most significant ancient cults. We will explore the Imperial Rome, its luxuries and refined architecture like the Emperor’s Palace. Finally we will move on to the Colosseum, the largest amphitheater in the world, symbol and architectural jewel of the city of Rome. We will learn about the brutality of the games which took place in the Colosseum and discover how was everyday life of spectators and gladiators.

The three-hour tour includes: The Roman Forum and its buildings, the Sacred Route, the Palatine Hill (including the Emperor’s Palace) and the Colosseum.

The four-hour tour includes: The Roman Forum and its buildings, the Sacred Route, the Palatine Hill (including the Emperor’s Palace) and the Colosseum plus the Capitoline Hill and via dei Fori Imperiali (the Fora of Trajan, Augustus and Caesar).

Your guides are local guides who hold a degree in Art History or Archaeology and know the city perfectly. Some of them also teach in American University Programs in Rome. They all have one thing in common: their deep love for the subjects they studied and their desire to pass it on to the people they meet!
